Gig East: Wilson's gigabit network powers a smart city drone app
WRAL TechWire's Gig East series featured Triangle UAS and its work with the City of Wilson on a drone app that streams real-time aerial imagery to first responders.
WRAL TechWire’s Gig East series, written by David Larson, looked at how Wilson, North Carolina’s early investment in gigabit fiber — the Greenlight network — is attracting high-tech innovation. Triangle UAS was featured for its smart city work with the city.
Supported by a National Science Foundation grant, the project uses drones to deliver real-time aerial imagery for emergency response, helping fire and police departments deploy resources more effectively. Greenlight’s fiber infrastructure makes it possible to stream high-definition drone video with low latency, in real time.
The article highlights Triangle UAS’s portfolio of services that supplement engineering projects, and notes that the company’s leadership has roots in Wilson.
