North Carolina drone company launches real-time video streaming system
Triangle UAS unveiled a drone video streaming system built for emergency response, search and rescue, and law enforcement, debuting at Smart Cities Connect 2019 in Denver.
Triangle UAS has launched a real-time video streaming system that sends live drone video to the people who need it, improving situational awareness for emergency response, search and rescue, and law enforcement operations.
The system pairs a compact, lightweight device that connects to the drone’s controller with custom server software, a mobile app, and a web platform. Video is encoded and sent over 4G or Wi-Fi with latency of half a second or less, at distances beyond one mile.
- Secure access for hundreds of viewers, with customizable permissions
- Recording of incoming streams from multiple video sources
- Works with conventional cameras and smartphones as well as drones
“Our goal was to create a user-friendly, cost-effective real-time video streaming system that delivers superior performance compared to currently available solutions,” said Taylor Kerby, president and founder of Triangle UAS.
The system is designed for first responders, public safety officials, emergency operations centers, smart cities, utilities, infrastructure inspectors, and media. It was showcased at the 2019 Smart Cities Connect Conference & Expo in Denver.
Later that year, Triangle UAS and the City of Wilson demonstrated the system — “Real-Time Drone Streaming” — on the main stage and expo floor of the US Ignite 2019 Application Summit, showing how a drone streaming infrastructure supports situational awareness in emergency response.
